ROWE RACING raring to go ahead of the first appearance for the new BMW M4 GT3 in the ‘Green Hell’

Second attempt at Nordschleife debut 2022 / Six BMW M works drivers competing for the St. Ingbert team in the third NLS race

St. Ingbert, 19th April 2022 – After adverse weather conditions caused the postponement of the second NLS race, ROWE RACING is now making a second attempt at chalking up the first laps on the Nordschleife with the new BMW M4 GT3. Next Saturday (23rd April) will mark the first appearance for the St. Ingbert team in a race in the ‘Green Hell’ with the heir to the successful BMW M6 GT3. The team will be competing in the 53rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken Trophy, the third race in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). ROWE RACING is aiming to gather some important experience for the highlight of the season, the 50th edition of the ADAC 24h Nürburgring on 28th/29th May.

On Saturday, the St. Ingbert team will field six of the eight BMW M works drivers scheduled for the ADAC 24h Nürburgring, to prepare the new BMW M4 GT3 for the specific requirements of the most challenging circuit in the world. Like the ‘Eifel marathon’ itself, all races in the NLS take place on the 25.378 kilometre combination of the legendary Nordschleife and the Grand Prix circuit.

ROWE RACING will also be able to rely on the ‘American way of drive’, as both US Americans Connor De Phillippi and John Edwards will be back behind the steering wheel for the team for the first time since the 24h race in June 2021. Connor De Phillippi, who was then part of the #98 crew that claimed second place, has switched to the team’s #99 car.

He will be sharing that cockpit with 2020 winner Nick Yelloly from Great Britain and Augusto Farfus from Brazil, who have driven together at Imola in the GT World Challenge Europe . John Edwards is moving in the other direction. He will be racing in the #98 BMW M4 GT3 with South Africa’s Sheldon van der Linde and two‑time German DTM Champion Marco Wittmann from the successful 2021 crew.

The first laps on the Nordschleife for ROWE RACING in the new season will take place two weeks later than scheduled, with Saturday’s 90 minute free practice session between 08:30 and 10:00. The four hour race then gets going at the traditional NLS start time of 12:00.

Hans-Peter Naundorf, Team Principal ROWE RACING: “The whole team is itching to finally get going on the Nordschleife with the new BMW M4 GT3. We are all very excited to see how the new car performs in the ‘Green Hell’ and how it will feel for the drivers. Even though we can access the BMW M Motorsport data from last year’s initial testing on the Nordschleife and from the NLS1 season opener, it is always crucial to experience this circuit for yourself and give the drivers as many kilometres as possible in the car. However, the postponement of the second NLS race did have a positive effect. After some very stressful weeks at the start of the season, concentrating on putting our new cars together and racing in the GT World Challenge Europe at Imola, we were able to catch our breath and recharge our batteries.”
