ROWE RACING at the heart of the world’s biggest motorsport party at the Goodwood “Festival of Speed”

Philipp Eng drives the #98 BMW M4 GT3 to ninth place in the legendary “hillclimb” / Successful premiere for the team from St. Ingbert

St. Ingbert, 15th July 2024 – More than 150,000 visitors celebrated what is probably the world’s largest motorsport party at the Goodwood “Festival of Speed” – and ROWE RACING was right in the middle of it. For the first time, St. Ingbert team, after their third victory at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2023, received the exclusive personal invitation from the Duke of Richmond and presented themselves in the illustrious company of numerous racing superstars on two and four wheels on the expansive grounds of Goodwood House, about 80 kilometres southwest of London.

BMW M works driver Philipp Eng drove the #98 BMW M4 GT3 up the 1.86 kilometre long hillclimb course seven times from Thursday to Sunday, a narrow, winding track classically lined with large straw bales. The Austrian improved with each run and finished a strong ninth place in the legendary “hillclimb” shootout on Sunday, which was ultimately won by former ROWE RACING pilot Romain Dumas in a 1,400 horsepower electric prototype. Philipp Eng clocked 50.21 seconds, reaching a top speed of 219 km/h.

Goodwood visitors took the opportunity over four days in mostly fantastic weather to see multiple Formula 1 and Rallye world champions like Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, Mika Häkkinen and Emerson Fittipaldi as well as Sébastien Ogier and Carlos Sainz, Le Mans legends like Jacky Ickx and Hans‑Joachim Stuck, or motorcycle heroes like Giacomo Agostini, Mick Doohan, Freddie Spencer and Kenny Rogers senior up close. In total, there were vehicles from 270 manufacturers to admire, from racing cars more than 100 years old to historic and current Formula 1 cars, to numerous, sometimes rare and million‑dollar supercars. Numerous manufacturers also presented their latest production models. In addition, there was the unique and relaxed British flair and as a social highlight, the Duke of Richmond’s traditional ball, which Philipp Eng attended along with Alexandra Kohlmann, CEO of ROWE MINERALÖLWERK GMBH.

Philipp Eng (#98 ROWE RACING BMW M4 GT3): “The Goodwood ‘Festival of Speed’ was a very, very cool experience and an insane event with so many fans and so many people. The ‘hillclimb’ was a lot of fun and very challenging. We had a good car and it all worked out quite well in the final. We got the maximum out of our package. Otherwise, our helicopter flight over the site was extremely cool, being able to see the whole festival from above. It was a great event. The Who even played, which I had never seen live before. It was a weekend that has gone down in history.”
