“Double shift” for ROWE RACING: “Own” race in the NLS is also dress rehearsal for the ADAC 24h Race

With two BMW M6 GT3 at the start in the ROWE 6 Hours ADAC Ruhr Cup race / Six BMW works drivers and an “old acquaintance” in the cockpits

St. Ingbert, August 25, 2020 – The ROWE 6 Hours ADAC Ruhr Cup Race has a very special meaning for ROWE RACING this year. The season highlight of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) next Saturday (August 29) is this time also the dress rehearsal 48th ADAC 24h race, which was postponed from the original date in May to September 26/27 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the final preparatory race for the “Eifel Marathon”, ROWE RACING will field two BMW M6 GT3s driven by six BMW factory drivers and an “old acquaintance”. This “old acquaintance” is Dutchman Stef Dusseldorp, who last drove to his first win of the season in the 43rd RCM DMV Borderland race together with compatriot Nick Catsburg during his comeback to the team from St. Ingbert after almost four years. This time, however, the “Flying Dutchmen” will be competing in different cars.

Nick Catsburg will be supported in the #99 BMW M6 GT3 by BMW DTM driver Philipp Eng from Austria and the two Brits Alexander Sims and Nick Yelloly.

Stef Dusseldorp switches to the BMW M6 GT3 with the #98 and shares the work there with two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann from Germany and his current BMW DTM factory driver colleague Lucas Auer from Austria.

Race day at the Nürburgring begins as usual with qualifying from 8.30 to 10.00 a.m., during which the starting grid is determined. The race traditionally starts at 12.00 p.m. and, in contrast to all other NLS rounds, runs over a race distance of six hours instead of four. ROWE MINERALÖLWERK GMBH has been the name sponsor of the ROWE 6 Hours ADAC Ruhr Cup Race since 2016. ROWE RACING had previously won this race four times in a row from 2012 to 2015, but has since been waiting for its first real “home victory”. Last year, Philipp Eng and Nick Catsburg finished fourth.

Hans-Peter Naundorf, Team Principal ROWE RACING: “The ROWE 6 Hours ADAC Ruhr Cup race is particularly important for us this year. It is not only the ‘own’ race for our team and our partner ROWE MINERALÖLWERK GMBH, but in this unusual season also the dress rehearsal for the ADAC 24h race, which was postponed to September. With our two BMW M6 GT3s, we want to work out the final fine-tuning between drivers, tires and car setup and prepare as best as possible for the season highlight in the Eifel. And of course we would like to win this race in particular. We know how to do that, and we want to build on this performance after winning the last NLS round.”
